Kylemore at the Spire on Dublin’s O’Connell Street has been serving customers for the past 22 years. Throughout this time it has become a widely recognized feature of our capitals main street. This year it has had a complete refurbishment and in a radical change from the norm is now open for table service evening meals Thursday to Sunday.
This is a whole new offering for a restaurant which is more widely known for its day time trade. The atmosphere in the restaurant in the evening is a complete contrast to the hustle and bustle of the day, with low lighting, gentle music and a friendly greeter to show you to your table where you can look out at the Spire and GPO in perfect comfort.
‘We have completely rejuvenated both the food quality and the décor but not the prices’ says Michael Gleeson, Kylemore’s Chief of Operations. ‘We are still offering the same traditional fare of hearty homely food we all long for in these times of change, but experience has shown us how to give real value to the customer’ he continues.
The menu offers traditional and contemporary food with the chef’s special twist. With items such as a gourmet bread board with basil pesto, 8oz beef burger with emmental cheese, crispy bacon and tomato relish or sirloin steak sandwich on a sundried tomato bread. Desserts include gooey chocolate pudding or chocolate chip cookie sundae.
Of course there is always the full range of teas and coffees and one of our tempting cakes and pastries which have been a firm favourite of the weary city centre shopper for many years, dating back to Kylemore’s origins as a bakery.
Kylemore has been a tradition on O’Connell Street for 22 years and this tradition lives on strongly but with a new modern twist that definitely makes it worth re-visiting.
